Attached below are the directions for saving and transferring files from home to school or school to home using a memory stick. [USB Drive]. We have walked the students through this several times, but there are an amazing number of different versions of both operating systems and M.S. Office out there. Hopefully these will help make the process easier.

By using project based curriculum, students learn to use a particular program through creating projects that include specific skills. The projects are either generated by the computer teacher or in conjunction with what the students are doing in their classroom setting so their computer instruction is integrated into their class work.

The skills taught all relate to the National Educational Technology Standards which are a bench mark skills list that all students, teachers, and administrators are expected to meet at specific grade level check points.

Saving RTF files

Fifth Grade Computer

The state report has begun. Fifth grade will be working on the various parts of their state report over the next two and a half months. In the computer lab we have explored the information about their state on WorldBook On Line, started their bibliography using a website called easybib.com, and started the two charts to organize the information they have researched about the people of their state. We will continue to be working on this during their computer time each week as well as their teachers bringing them an extra time each week. They also have the option of coming in during their lunch as I am in the lab at that time.

Sixth Grade Computer

Sixth graders have researched Ancient China to create a brochure and, in groups have created games about Ancient Americans. As they go on to study Ancient Greece, we will be working in the lab to learn the formatting and other skills necessary to create a newspaper. Once completed we will be printing these on tabloid sized (11 by 17) paper.

Wheel Computer

The Wheel classes have "moved on" to study individual areas during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. In the computer section we will be reviewing using M.S. Office including some things that the students have not done previously. The students will also be exploring possible careers on the internet as well as working on creating webpages and more detailed searching techniques. In addition, this year students will be given an opportunity to learn to use iMovie '08 to create either slide shows, stop action animations, or actual movies using the cameras in the screens of our new computers. This will give them experiences that would transfer to other movie production software, and is a new experience for our seventh graders.
